2. How to Complain About Specialist Firm Legal Handling
If your complaint relates to the legal advice, representation, or handling of your specific legal claim, this must be directed to the specific specialist firm who handled your case.
As regulated firms, the specialists we connect you with have a strict, formal complaints procedure. They will provide you with a copy of this procedure upon request or at the outset of your case.
3. Legal Ombudsman
If you are not satisfied with the specialist firm's response to your legal complaint, you may be eligible to escalate the matter to the Legal Ombudsman.
Before accepting a complaint for investigation, the Legal Ombudsman will check that you have tried to resolve your complaint with the legal firm first. If you have, then you must take your complaint to the Legal Ombudsman:
- Within six months of receiving a final response to your complaint from the law firm; and
- No more than one year from the date of the act/omission; or
- No more than one year from when you should reasonably have known there was cause for complaint.
